The UPS can be configured from any web browser via RS232 interface installed as standard. Support is provided for all popular operating systems including Windows NT4, Windows 95/98, Netware and most flavours of UNIX.
Because the S1000 series supports industry standard protocols, the UPS can communicate with your existing scheduling and shutdown programs, avoiding the need for proprietary UPS management software. The UPS is also equipped with full internal event logs and diagnostics, and can broadcast shutdown warning by HTTP.
The S1000 series breaks new ground by making SNMP management available in UPS from 700VA upwards. This means that one industry standard management tool can be used to monitor and control all your UPS from one central location, regardless of the power rating. Control and management functions are also available through any standard web browser e.g. Internet Explorer or Netscape. Alarms (‘traps’) can be configured to ensure automatic notification of events such as low battery, power outage and overload.Your UPS is the essential component in maintaining a fault-tolerant power supply. Because the SNMP smartcard interfaces directly with the network, it is not dependent on a PC for connection to the network. This means that communication with your UPS is maintained even if the protected device (e.g. server) goes down. As a result, diagnostic information can be retrieved from the UPS and used to determine remedial action. By using the UPS to remotely power down and then power up the attached devices it may even be possible to initiate remote reboot.
